Homestead Residents Have Fun While Staying Home

The fun hasn’t stopped at Homestead! While things aren’t the same as they used to be, our Lifestyle Director has gotten creative, planning events and activities that follow social distancing guidelines. If anything, it’s brought the community even closer! Here are just a few of the ways Homestead residents have been having a blast while staying at home these past couple months.
Lifestyle Busy Kits
The lifestyle busy kits have been a huge hit at Homestead. It’s an exciting thing to look forward to, and is a great way for the whole family to be entertained! There are various options available to residents, with some geared towards kids with STEM-focused activities and challenges, others are kitchen themed and include new recipes so you can become a five-star chef, and there’s even cocktail mixing kits for the adults to enjoy!
Library Drive-Thru
Homestead has partnered with Schertz Public Library to make getting your summer reads convenient! Residents can request a book or two from the library, and they’ll bring it to you on the next visit. And if you don’t have a library card, you can register for one online, then pick it up without leaving Homestead!
Food Truck Nights
Several nights each month, our Lifestyle Director organizes different food trucks to come and visit Homestead. They park at the amenity center, so it’s easy for residents to head over and grab a bite for dinner. It’s a fun break from the norm, and you might try some local restaurants you hadn’t heard of!
Freedom Fest
Independence Day was a blast at Homestead! There was Fredericksburg Backwoods BBQ and drive-thru donuts to enjoy, plus goodie bags with all things red, white and blue provided by our Lifestyle Director. The patriotic pet photo contest was the cutest thing, with furry friends dressed in their July 4 best. But the most exciting part was the driveway dance party, complete with a DJ driving through the community playing music!
