A Dedication to Remember

Situated just 15 minutes from Randolph Air Force Base, and with many resident families connected to the military, Homestead wanted to pay tribute to those who have served our nation. In 2024, six benches will be installed along one of the community trails—a gesture to honor the sacrifices made by service members and their families.
On November 11th, Veterans Day, Homestead hosted a dedication event for the planned benches on Honor Trail. This event was open to both residents and the general public, welcoming everyone to come and celebrate our nation’s veterans. It was a day to reflect on the service and sacrifices made by those in uniform and to express our gratitude for their dedication to preserving our freedoms.
The Significance of the Six Benches
Each of the six new benches along the trail symbolizes a branch of the military: Navy, Army, Marines, Air Force, Space Force and National Guard. These benches serve as places of rest and reflection for those taking a stroll or bike ride along the trail. They are a testament to the dedication, bravery and unwavering commitment of the men and women who have served in these branches. Whether you’re a Navy veteran, an Air Force pilot, a proud Marine or a member of any other branch, these benches stand as a tribute to your service.
Honor Trail
In recognition of this tribute, the trail will be officially renamed the “Honor Trail.” It’s a fitting name for a path that celebrates the honor, integrity and sacrifice that are at the core of military service. Homestead is more than just a community; it’s a close-knit family of residents, many of whom are active-duty service members and veterans. This unique blend of backgrounds and experiences has fostered a deep sense of camaraderie and respect within the neighborhood, and as a community that understands the challenges and sacrifices of military life, Homestead has always been committed to honoring its service member residents.
